The Candidate of "Change" was Bridgeport's Own Jasper McLevy?

Many people know that Jasper McLevy was the Socialist Mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut from 1933 to 1957. However, did you also know that Jasper McLevy also ran for
Governor of Connecticut on the Socialist platform?
"Stop Talking reform! Vote For It!"

This political poster for Jasper McLevy is a campaign poster for McLevy as he ran for Governor of Connecticut in 1938. The Socialist party in Bridgeport ran Jasper McLevy for Governor almost every year...unsuccessfully. On November 8, 1938, Republican Ray Baldwin won the office of Governor of Connecticut. Jasper continued his job as Mayor of Bridgeport
McLevy ran periodically as the Socialist candidate for governor of the State of Connecticut, and even ran for U.S. senator twice. All were unsuccessful.
It was his twenty four years as the Socialist Mayor of Bridgeport that made Jasper McLevy the longest running mayor....and the only Socialist to be Mayor of Bridgeport!
